I have ArcServe 2000 running on a Windows 2000 server. I am running the ArcServe Netware agent on a Novell 4.11 server. This server also has netware for MAC running on it.

I attempted to do a restore of a directory that was created by a mac. The user tells me that the files are all showing up as pc files instead of the mac files they were anticipating. I believe the mac links were broken somehow.

My question: Should I be doing this a different way for these files to restore properly?

Any help would be appreciated.

In order to properly protect MAC files, Arcserve must connect to the NW4.11 server via the Novell TSA. Check the NWAgent log to see if the TSA was properly connected to. The same must hold true when restore is performed. DOn't forget to use the Novell complete name as the login ID for the remote server. ie. .cn=user.ou=orgunit.u=org.

Arcserve's NWagent should be set to use SMS for DOS and MAC files. This is set at the server console within the NWagent configuration menu selection. Chris Horvath - True Data Storage Networks Inc. - New York City
