I replaced a dds3 into a dds4 streamer but now the restore process does not find more than one session on the saved tape. E3801 - Who can help me?

Hello "Guru",

yes I tried to merge it back into the database. But it also didn't work. I also used NT-Backup-but the same error.

Then I tried the program nova line, what sometimes comes along with a new dds3 streamer from hp. This program works fine and is able to recover all I want. At the moment I am waiting for Arcserve 7.0. Hopefully I can fix the problem, as the nova line progam is not able to read the old tapes and I need something to recover.

Hello "zerotimes",
the fact that you used NT backup insinuates to me that your backing up and restoring with the NT drivers installed on the device. Disable the device within windows (or simply do not load the driver) and then try arcserve again (bounce the engines first or reboot as requested by windows).

Good luck

Hello "Guru" -:)

The NT-driver was not installed while running with arcserve.
I just installed it when I tried to have success with nt-backup. But it didn't work also. Until now, I have no answers to this problem at all, as the backup process with arcserve seem to work well. I can restore everything from the tape as long as it only has one session.

Anyway, thanks for your help

Hello "Zero" :p

Have you applied sp3? I assume this is AS2000, if it isn't that of course the dds4 wont work with it :) software old, hardware new.

So if it IS AS2000, then apply sp3 to it.

If you have then we shall continue :) with patch qo11687.

It's hard though, you haven't told me the exact model of your drive.

good luck
