Hi,
I'm currently evaluating Arcserve R12 sp1 (with a view to replacing Veritas). The GFS job sumbits fine, tape drive is erasing/formatting etc fine however around 3 minutes in to the backup run each night the job goes on hold having processed fine for the first 3 minutes. Has anyone else encountered something similar ?

many thanks

have but don't remember the cause.
put the Job and Tape engines into debug
Server Admin, select the server, configuration, Job Engine in debug, and Tape engine in Detail.

Now run the job and hopefully there will be some new data that will help.

The Tape Engine data is written to tape.log, in the log directory.

One thing to look for to see if the tape is formated, which would indicate the Tape Engine is already involved.

Thanks for the tip, it might be due to the 2003 device manager driver for the tape drive also being enabled but I'll know more when i disable it and carry out a reboot.
