Hey I’m new her and I was wondering if any one can help me
At our company we have a windows 2003 sever running Arcserve 11.0
It has been working fine for the past year wit no problems and now all of a sudden the
Tapes that it wants are blank when it has been using the media pool fine. The message sez
Something about not being able to log on as administrator to find the tape so it requests a blank tape
If we put a blank tape in it runs fine if we put a tape in from the scratch set the job will fail.
This is the message we are getting

W3073
Unable to logon as user. (USER=administrator, EC=logon failure: unknown user name
N5962
Media in device Group0 is not in the scratch set of pool ST_DLY.
N5940
Please mount one of the following media in device group GROUP0 :
N5941
<BLANK>
N5929
Job will be cancelled in 5 minute (s) .
E3831
Unable to find any media that can be used in this job

And help would be greatly appreciated

Re-enter the ARCserve system account details using server admin or bconfig. Looks like the details are invalid.

thanx for your in put we have just tried that and it did not work we where wondering if it was somthing to do with the caroot password and if that is the case how would we change it we dont not no what the current password is

Hi

To reset the password of caroot,

go to the BAB director>>>>authsetup /p""
this should reset the password

Try remounting the magazine and check how it goes, else
try upgrading it to version11.1

Here is the link:

then apply :

if you have sp1 for windows 2003 installed then apply this patch also

good luck!!!

cheers

thanx alot we will do what you suggestion we will try it asap

hi we have looked and we have all the above already installed any other things we can try

Did you get rid of the W3073 but are still having rotation problems?

no we still have it i think once we have that part of the problem resolved the rest will sort itself out

Hi,

First try setup the Arcsser system account and verify, then reinitialise the datbase from the Arcserver admin. Now you try your backup will work fine.

NB : When you reinitialise the database you will lose the information, but this will not cause any problem.

be careful if you choose to initialize the database - it is a little naive to say that it will not cause any problem - if you are using media pools or rotations then performing a full re-init you will lose this information.
