Arcserve only backing up directories but not files, help!

I have ust realised that my arcserve job that runs every evening has not been backing up the local drives on the server. It is running successfully without error, it is also successfully backing up remote drives. The backup job is indicating that the directories are being found but it is showing [0] files being backed up. Access rights seem fine and i have recreated a job again to no avail, HELP!

Don't know so here are some things to try that hopefully provide enough additional data to get a resolution.

It was not clear, do all local and remote drives fail to backup files?

Try using the Client Agent with it set in debug mode
Setup a few jobs selecting specific data
try selecting just one directory
try selecting all the files in one directory
try selecting just a bunch of files but from a few different directories
try a Count job of the drive

Yes, i have tried what you suggest already. The machine running arcserve is a 2000 advanced server, this is the machine that appears never to have backed itself up, although it successfully backs up two remote servers which are running nt server. I have tried running manual backups, recreating jobs with specific data, it just doesnt back up the data. It backs up the dairectory files, but doesnt backup the files.
Running out of ideas??????

What applications are on the servers are you trying to backup? If it's something like Exchange, Arcserve will not try to back the files up if you have the agent installed. You'll have to do a registry tweak for that.

Have you tried going into the options and turning the option to Log everything? What does it say?

This has been fixed by updating the Service pack for Arcserve 2000. I installed service pack 5 and it has fixed the problem ....wooohoooooooo!!!!!
