My guess is that this common issue but here it goes.

I'm testing out the ArcServe disaster recovery option and am having issues. Can anyone provdide help or feed back?

I'm using AS2000 sp3, disaster recovery option, and all the lastest patches. The product seems to work Ok on ide based subsystems but I'm having an issue with Compaqs. I ran a full backup, created the boot kit (cd version with server specific diskette) and have run other fulls and incrementals.

At first the option would fail because I had no logical disk created. Once I created the raid 1 logical disk the option began to work as advertised. Upon the second re-boot it detected and installed the Compaq nic card and prompted for a re-boot. After this re-boot the DRO loads up and then errors out with "Unable to load module - closing program" that's it and I havn't been able to find a work around.

Can anyone help? What are some other methods of revovering a W2K box?

Thanks,
Bruce

You must use compaq smart start CD's to create the original raid configuration and to set up the EISA partition on the hard drives, then to DR. Also, make sure the DR is sp3 as well and the client agent too when you do the full backup. Also, do the full backup only using computer name resolution!

Thanks for the tips. Currently the network port is configured for static IP. Does the DRO need a DHCP address and not static?

It doesn't have much to do with static or dynamic IP. It has to do with the way it extracts the necessary files from the server onto the tape and into the DR directory, Session information for the backup will not be displayed within the DR Wizard and as such the DR will fail as the session cannot be selected. Computer Name resolution must be used.

Of course this may cuase problems in some envornments which do not have a WINS server as the clients will only be able to be added using IP.
