I am getting this -2001 error everytime arcserve trys to use the database (logging in, adding job etc) - this is a fresh install of arcserve on a new server. Im not using the SQL db just the normal one. Any ideas anyone had this issue before??
Thanks in advance,

Mark

Yes the engine starts and runs ok. But i cant initialise it using arcserve server admin. It throws an error back saying close other ARCserve applications and try again. (All other applications are closed)

I've had this type of message on occasion. Normally it's from one of the following:

The Arcserve system account does not have the appropriate rights to the db directory of Arcserve.

The drive that Arcserve is loaded on is almost full.

The name of the computer has changed since the original install.

There is a issue with the Arcserve license, in which case you would see messages in the event viewer.

Good luck,
DJ

Cheers Mate - that link worked a treat. The fix was

"In Windows NT Right Click on the My Computer Icon and check the RNNAME variable in the Environment Variables. Make sure that the RNNAME variable reflects the proper name of the server."
