Arcserve Client Agent fails to login

Using Arcserve version 9, trying to backup a machine on another subnet using the Windows client agent. When I setup the backup job Arcserve keeps giving me the error "failed to login to agent". This remote pc is in a workgroup while the rest are in a domain. I tried re-installing the agent to no avail. I'm trying to improve my backup throughput and I think the agent can help.

I have verified connectivity in both directions.
Any ideas?

Try specifying the remote machine's username with the machine name when creating the job.

e.g.
SERVER\administrator

Do the Arcserve client log on the client machine give any additional detail?

Hello,

I have got the same problem here. I use ARCserve R11.1 and it always worked without problems. Since we changed the password on our backup server the problems began. I have tried allmost everything but didn't succeed in getting it to work again. I wonder wether you found the solution for the problem?

Have you tried deleting and recreating the job? Even if you put the old job on hold and recreate a new one, it may be worth a try?
