Hi,

I just installed Arcserve r12 on a server at work, and I am trying to get my head around the multitude of options for backing up data.

A bit of background: I am looking to backup about 13 servers, with a total full uncompressed backup size of about 130Gb.

Heres what I want to do:

I want to enable a GFS rotation, and backup all servers on a rotation with Sunday - Full backup, and the rest differential. I also want to enable staging to backup each server and day to a certain area on a SAN.

By having a play, it doesnt look like I can enable staging and use a 7 day GFS rotation. There doesnt look to be a way to store each day in a different FSD when using a rotation...
Is it possible to do this? If so, how do I?

I will keep playing, but a pointer in the right direction would be great! Thanks!

OK, Ill try to split the questions up a bit, hopefully someone can answer some:

- How do I assign a certain day's backup to a certain FSD and tape? I have 7 FSD's, one for each day, and 7 tapes. How do I setup a single schedule to point each day's backup to it's assigned FSD and tape??

I don't think you can set it up as one job. You could set up individual to do this but really why do you want them to stage in different locations?

I just figured out I dont want to stage them to different areas. The software is setup to manage the data itself, you should just let it dump it all in the one area and manage it itself...
