ArcServe 9 cannot start services

Hi everybody,
I'm new here and i need help with ArcServe 9.
I installed it on W2K SP3 week ago,evethink was fine,but now after reboot I cannot start even one ArcServe service.
I get error message " Could not start the " service name" on local computer.Error 193. %1 is not valid Win32 application.

Please help we have no support plan with CA

HI,

Looks like the installation of ARCserve got screwed up..

try using the ARCserve system account to start these services...

try using Cstop.bat from the Brighstor folder.

else reinstall..

It does seem like a corrupt installation.

Perhaps it was caused by a virus?

To get rid of that error, I uninstalled ARCserve (with reboots and deleting of leftover files and registry entries) and then reinstalled it. Unfortunately, at the end of the installation, when it comes to starting the services, I received the same error message.
I have been thinking about a virus, too ... but cannot really tell anymore ...
For me, the fastest way to solve it was a disaster recovery of the day before ...
