HI

Could someone please tell me what the exact filter string is
for directorys.

I have tried

1)Servername\vol:\dir1\dir2
2)Servername\vol:dir1\dir23)vol:\dir1\dir2
4)vol:dir1\dir2
5)\dir1\dir2
6)dir1\dir2

But no luck keeps saying invalid filter the reason i ask is that yet again the DBase is knackered and all i want is like the contenets of the directory , i have merged till im blue in the face and still no luck.

Forgot to add , how would the filter deal with long file names ie servername\vol1:my name bob dylan\dir1\dir2

would i have to use the ~ at the end of my~

Any help would be a god send

The correct format should be:

SERVER/VOL:\DIR

but I would suggest putting a long filename filter in quotes eg.

"SERVER/VOL:\DIRECTORY STRUCTURE"

and see if that works. The \ after the volume name is a must.

Are you using Arcserve 7 for NetWare? If so, try replacing the database before you kick off another merge. To do this:

a) stop Arcserve (ASTOP)

b) rename the DATABASE directory (DATABASE.OLD for example)

c) make a replacement directory called DATABASE

d) copy the contents of EMPTYDBB into the new DATABASE directory

e) start Arcserve (ASTART)

See how you get on. -----------------------------------------------------
