Hi All,

We recently acquired a new client account and they have Arcserve IT 6.61 installed on a fairly good machine. This server is running Windows NT4.0 SP6, Arcserve IT 6.61 with SP2A. The Tape Drive is a 10 tape unit - Overland LB series (DLT 7000), SCSI 2 device.

All servers in the environment are configured at 100 Mbs on the network and all servers have the Arcserve NT Client Agent installed.

The problem is the Speed of the backups are BRUTALLY slow! This server is currently backing up at about 15 MB a minute on any of the Client machines. The local machine itself performs normal at 200-300 MB a minute.

I have also tried some of C.A.'s suggested recommendations for registry modifications to increase the speed however these were already previously modified and look to be acceptable.

Any Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

set the duplex of the remote machines NIC's and the switch to 100mb Half Duplex.

Bye

100 MB Half Duplex? Why Half instead of Full Duplex? Is there any docs from CA or elsewhere that would indicate why this is a good idea? You know Management - want a damned certified answer for everything :)

Thanks!

Darryl

Have you tried turning off virus scanning during backups?
