Hello,

We have several different ARCserve versions running.
The standard on our NT 4.0 servers is ARCserve 6.61 Advanced Edition. With servicepack 2a it is known as (build 834SP2A). On one location we have ARCserve 6.61 installed. When you look at the 'about ARCserveIT...' screen, it says (build 885).
This version cannot be updated to servicepack 2a.

Does anybody know why?

Hello Janneman

This is a problem I never had under NT4.
I meet this under Win2k.

I can give you things to be checked:

Check the SP for NT. Are you in 5 or 6?
Check your ArcServe Services. Are there running good?
Do you the update under administrative profile?
Is your ArcServe all registred?

If you allready checked this points what is the errormessage you get?

I cannot give you a solution yet. My experience is not long enough but I troubleshouted some installation problem with this check list.
If I can help you...

Fredje

Hello Fredje,

The whole story:

The machine is configured with Windows NT 4.0 SP6a.
ARCserve services including the alerter services are running correctly. We login with an administrative account.
The arcserve version on this machine is registered with RegisterIT online.

The machine was originally running ARCserve 6.0 Single Server. After that it was updated to ARCserve 6.6 Workgroup Edition. At that point the build was 885.

I tried to upgrade the basic configuration to the level of servicepack 2a. That didn't work.

I removed ARCserve from the system. After that I reinstalled a new version 6.61 Advanced Edition. After al configurations had been made, the 'about ARCserveIT...' screen, still said(build 885). The upgrade to servicepack 2a again went wrong.

Thats about all information i can give you.

Suggestions?

The boxes that shipped with the CD that had ARCserveIT 6.61 Advanced Edition build 885 had another CD attached to the outside of the box with a paper that stated to use the CD on the outside of the box (Build 834). SP2a will not apply to build 885. 6.61 is also not supported on windows 2000 unless you have the temporary 2000 support build of 897.

Hi Guys,

AS6.61 Build 885 is the Enterprise Edition

Sp2a is for the Advanced and the workgroupd editions only...
