Here's the scoop:

Compaq Proliant DL380, AIT50 tape drive on the CA certified device list, all patches applied. I get this error once per week and must resort to manual backups. I reconfigured the tape drive on one occasion and the backup ran successfully for almost three months error-free. Does anyone have any ideas? Every time I think I have addressed the issue, it surfaces again. Thank you in advance.

This may not help, but I was getting a similar error, but when trying to restore... yet the backup passed successfully..... as I would break into a cold sweat: I simply re-inserted the tape (a little more firmly I might add) and the second time it would work... it's almost as if the head was not aligned on the tape properly the first time

This happened a few times and since then, I make sure when I insert the tapes, that it's firmly inserted.

This might not be the answer your looking for, but it happens to fit your description.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with ArcServe, you should check with the tape drive manufacturer/reseller to see if this is a known issue. There may be an updated firmware or field modification to resolve the issue.

Thank you for the feedback both of you. I'll check again with the manufacturer: I've done so on one occasion. I'll try again. Have a great day.

Hello

I had the same problem with the same material.

I solved this problem by disabling the service called Remote
Storage.

Good Luck
