We run ArcServe 2000 on two servers (both Windows 2k Adv. Server). It had been working fine and still is but on 1/3/2002 we started getting warning messages in event viewer on both machines. The source is CA_LIC, the Event ID is 5000, and the description is:
'Computer Associates Licensing-1WCC-Component not licensed. Please run the appropriate license program to properly license your program. LRF=1WCC, b5d9618a9e6d'

If anyone has an idea on this I would appreciate your feedback. We never had an issue before the beginning of the year and had been running the same program. Why would it start giving warning all of the sudden?

Thanks

Title: 1WCC Licensing Errors
Software: ARCserve 2000
Platform: Windows NT/2000
Version: 7.0
Document Number: 18161
Last Updated: February 13, 2002

Description: Event Viewer Application log starts reporting 1WCC license errors after January 2 2002.

Product: ARCserve 2000 WG/AE

Platform: Windows 2000 and NT

Problem:
The event Viewer application log reports the following error:

1WCC - Component not licensed. Please run the appropriate license program to properly license your product.

Cause: In certain circumstances the following patch: LO90527.CAZ was applied to the ARCserve 2000 WG/AE version of the Backup Open Files Agent. This patch was intended only for the Unicenter Advanced Storage Option 7 Backup Agent for Open Files. If you have applied this patch to the ARCserve 2000 WG/AE then proceed with the solution.

Solution:

Stop the Event Log Watch service

Go into the services panel of your operating system and stop the Event Log Watch Service. Note that there is a similar service called "Event Log". Please stop the "Event Log Watch service".

Stop the CA Backup Agent for Open Files service

Go into the services panel of your operating system and stop the "CA Backup Agent for Open Files Service".

Set the following CA Backup Agent for Open Files registry value to 3 hex:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\CA BAOF\CurrentVersion\ProdSubType

Run your registry editor. Choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and browse down into the following keys:

Software\ComputerAssociates\CA BAOF\CurrentVersion

Note the values listed for the CurrentVersion key

Double-click on ProdSubType and the DWORD editor will appear

With the Hex option selected, change the value to 3.

Start the event Log Watch and CA Backup Agent for Open Files services

Go to the services panel and start the two services that were stopped earlier

To solve this problem go into the Registry: Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\ComputerAssociates\CA BAOF
and Change the value of ProdSubType, from 1 to 3, this should solve the problem.

Regards

Alex
