I have an Exabyte EZ17 with a single Mammoth2.
It's connect to an Adaptec 29160 on a dual Pentium 1GHz Server with 500MB RAM.
I'm running Windows 2000 server with service pack 2.
I'm using Arcserve 2000 with support pack 2.
The best throughput I seem to get is about 140 MB/min locally.
I believe I should be getting 4 or 5 times that.

Is anyone using a similar config? If so what kind of throughput are you getting?

Any ideas what might be wrong?!?!

I have seen this problem myself. Our problem turned out to be a driver issue with Adaptec 29160. The driver which ships with Adaptecs scsi card has issues with a slow throughput. We currently use the Microsoft driver for the card, and acheive a much higher throughput. (I was told this info by someone at Adaptec, but whovere I ask now they inform me that this is not the case anymore ! I am not convinced though)

Hope this helps.

Thanks . . . I'll give that a shot.

I seem to think that someone at adaptec said something along the same lines before but I didn't follow it up.

What a difference a stupid driver can make!!
I put the microsoft driver back and wow what a difference.
I am now getting 500-600 MB/minute.

Thanks Andylucket!!!
