ARCSERVE 12: Client Agent Connection still running

I am having issues backing up a VMWare hosted server. The backup job times out and stops, but leaves the connection on the client server still running.

Does any one know how to kill a running agent client connection without rebooting the server?

PS I have made changes as advised to TCP reconnect registry settings as advised by CA ready for when client connections become available.

Windows Services Manager
stop the
CA ARCserve Backup Universal Client Agent
or called something like that.

I stopped all Arcserve services but the connection stays open. The only way I've found to kill the connection is to reboot the server, but with this particular server it is difficult to get a window in which to do this.
