I have a server running 12.5 which was built prior to me. I am being told that the performance appears to be slower and some of the job logs have information that they didn't include before. I'm thinking this might be due to someone setting some things for debug but am not sure where to start. I did find in the folowing in the registers. Under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ComputerAssociates/CA ARCserve Backup/Base/Task/Common their are 8 setting that begin with Trace that are set to "1". Does this make since or is it possible someone turned it on. Unfortuneately the person who did the install did not leave any documentation that I can find so I am working a bit in the dark. Any suggestions on what to check would be greatly appriciated. TIA
Craig OK

Those setting are for the Task and not Job Logs. Some are enabled by default but they only effect logging and so can be changed without effecting backups.

Provide some examples of the data in question.

Thank you for the response. I also found a link to a CA document for turning on Debug for r11 and checked some of these. I did find that in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ ComputerAssociates \ CA ARCserve Backup \ Base \ TapeEngine \ Debug

Level is set to 2 as well as OUTPUT.

However, the document doesn't state what the normal setting shoudl be. Any suggestions? I am continuing to go through this document and checking to see if anything else is turned on.

Everyone,

I was able to find a link to the ARCserve 11.5 debug document here in the forum. This also led me to the doc for 12.5 and 15. While it actually says what to set the values at to turn on debug, there is enough info to provide some guidance in turning debug off. At least it steered me in the right direction. FYI the links are:

ARCserve 11.5 Debug guide link:

ARCserve R15 Debug Guide

ARCserve r12.5 Debug Guide

Thank yo davidmichel for you assistance.
