I deployed SP2 yesterday and last night's incremental backup was still running this morning. After some research it looked like it was hung on the backup server job, all the other servers in the backup were complete. I thought it was hung on a specific file, which turned out to be to the zip file that contained SP2. I removed it, and it crashed the job. I restarted that portion of the job and it appeared to hang again though.

Anyone else having this issue, or have any ideas where I can look? I checked all of the logs to no avail. I am not seeing anything that points to why there was a hang.

Thanks,

Have not heard of it.
Can't imagine it has anything to do with the SP2 update file.
Restart the system, reinstall SP2, try the backup again.

Can it be the antivirus scan (if you use AV scan during backup) ?

I do not use the CA's antivirus scan.

I am working with CA on the issue, but the support here is usually better than what I get on the phone which is why I tried here first.

It is an SP2 issue, there is no question of that. We are still uncertain why it is happening, and in fact there may be an easy resolution to it, which is to recreate the job.

I think that I will recreate the job on Friday (my full backup day) if we are still at a standstill here.

The backup server will back itself up if you just run an individual backup, it will not in my GFS rotation job that I had setup prior to the SP2 installation.

Thanks for the advice and help so far, I will keep you posted.

Try and modify the current job. Maybe something go hosed during the crash. Make sure that the .zip file is not listed as a file to back up.

I already deleted the zip file in question, as I thought that it was corrupt, but it still doesn't work.

I reaintalled SP2, I rebooted the machine, and modified the job all with no success.

Hi,

Can you try to:
- delete the job & the job queue,
- re-create the job.

IF still does not work, enable the full logging for the giving to know if it really hangs, or takes age or.....

Chris

Hi guys

I am working in CA support.
We have currently some problem with the web so the SP2 issue is normal.

Try again later from:

or try by ftp:
NODE: ftp.ca.com
PATH: /CAproducts/unicenter/AXWBAS/nt/GA/QO81201
FILES: QO81201.DFC

Hope this helps
