Has anyone had any problems installing the Exchange 2003 agent for Arcserve 11.5? I remember this being a particularly gruelling exercise under arcserve 2000 because of the MAPI client and the need for Outlook 97, so I have applied the same principles under Exchange 2003 sp2 and installed Outlook 2000 as my MAPI client and it still doesn't work!
I also install Arcserve 11.5 under its own service account and it works just fine and backs up the information store no problem. Its the brick level that I really need to satisfy management.
Can't find anything on the CA site.
Any help much appreciated.

Installing Outlook clients is an old old thing from Exchange 5.5, and not required, recommended or supported by Microsoft anymore.

you can create/manage a MAPI profile which the agent can use using profman2 from MS, information on this here:

Exchange already installs all of the MAPI components necessary to work with the ARCserve Exchange Agent without having to install an Outlook client.

Thanks very much for your swift reply, however I have tried installing the agent without Outlook and it still doesn't work!
Should I be thinking along the lines of running any of the backup services using the exchange sa account?
does the account for arcserve perhaps need to be a member of enterprise admins?

Thanks once again.
The error is during configuration of the agent.
The message I receive is
"Failed to configure your server"
I have checked that the account I have set up has pthe correct permissions both on the domain and locally.
Thanks

Maybe a long shot, but is this applicable? :

I know it is for an older version, but it may still be applicable - this always seems to get missed for every version for some reason.

If not, can you post the last few lines of the ExchVerify.log which might give more indication on the problem?

Hi ,

Failed to configure you server is a very generic message.

Look for Exchverify.log on the exchange server.
can you paste the entries on the log ?

that would be very helpful in narrowing down the problem

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!
