morning!

I am coming up with an error on BrightStor Arcserve 11.1

e8601 failure to connect agent (agent=dbaxchg2, ec=windows error 2502: the program below called an unsupported ms-dos function:)

it started last thursday, there have been no system changes, no problems with the entire network and all of a sudden i cannot back up my exchange!

I am new to arcserve having just come in to my new job and so will probably need a bit more of an explanation than normal!

thank you in advance!

naomi

I have changed caroot password to something new through cmd stopping all the services first so I know this is not the problem. when i try to open the bricklayer it comes up with 2502 error exch exchange agent "exchange system error" and then goes into the security panel asking for my domain username. when i give this (it hasnt changed at all) it comes back with the same error. if it is not the caroot password i am guessing it is the domain user and password but these havent changed and it is not accepting them. any ideas?

Ok.. for you to run a Brick Level Backup , you need to configure the Exchange agent with a specific user account.

Make sure that the mailbox associated with this account is not Hidden from the Global Address list. rerun the Exchange agent config

You can verify this on the AD-Users & Computers.

So it Shall be Written!
So it Shall be Done!!

still no joy... i have created an entire new user in the domain specifically for this. I have changed the caroot password and that is working. everything else will acept the domain user and password with the exception of the brick which is now coming up with:

invalid user id or passwordwas submitted or databaseserver instance may be inaccesible. if user idis a windows domain account, please user domain\user name

argle! i had just got backup exec fully sorted when i moved jobs and now i am back at the beginning with a new program!!

thank you for help, any ideas now?

missed a password! damn this thing has password sets everywhere! i could murder the previous admin for not leaving all the passwords i needed!

thank you for help!!!

ok i was a bit prematre on that i spent last night battling with it again. although it is now letting me into the brick and letting me see everything it is still failing :( i am just about to stop and start the services again... i dont have to be logged in as the user who is running the backup do i? i am logged in as admin but running it as the new admin backup user i setup. it has the right user and password set up Everywhere so i am flumoxed.

ok i am now getting the response

e8601 failed to connect agent invalid username or password was submitted or database server instance maybe inaccesible. if user id is a windows account make sure you are using domain\user

i am now logged on as the newuser i created. i thought i had changed all the user names and passwords. when i go to amend job it will not let me into the brick without retyping the password as it seems to be expecting the old one and everytime i change it next logon it is back to old one. any ideas?
