I use nt4 arcserv6.61, The server see's my Dell dlt1, arcserv see's the dlt1 in devices, but it backs up as an 8mm. Is there a setting in arcserve that I can't find to tell it to back up media (dat) not 8mm?> Ive rebooted and checked the conections a million times. I have to get permission to get sp2 and patches. In my other servers using the same application it see's sdlt and runs fine.
Any help is appreciated

Are you getting the expected amount of data on each tape? If so, then this is a cosmetic issue. Applying the last service pack and last device patch is your only hope for fixing this one. There are no overrides to tell ARCserve what kind of drive you are using. It detects the type on its own. But again this may be cosmetic only.

I get all of the data, Its just the 13 hrs it takes to do it. In april of this year it started I only started in this shop in july.Im asking permision to install the patches.
Thanks. If any other idea's let me know.

What MB/min figure are you getting for the local backup.

Might also want to check what SCSI speed is being negotiated between the server and drive.
