Archive Server in High Availability

Hi all,
i'm trying to find some guides or docs related to the high availability archive server installation but, till now, without success.

I've found these two documents but it seems impossibile to download them, or find them...can you please help me? Have you ever installed an archive server in such configuration (windows server, microsoft failover and oracle database)?

AFAIK OT does not make that publication public.THERE IS A FEE.IT IS A SERVICE ENGAGEMENT.
I know the answer is not what you want to hear but if you do not get a AS Failover "blessed" by OT they will not support it.
You could check latest things with OT but about 3 yrs back I had done a AS on AIX and when it came to do High Availability
I had to work with a OT person who came to the site and who ran some environmental scripts and configures it.

I thought that can be possible at least to find the official guides mentioned in the first post...they're linked in the official forums as official guides. By the way, we'll experiment a procedure.

most of us prior to 971 would know how to do the windows style of clustering,but OT says after 971 too many customers make mistakes on doing it themselves hence they brought it in house.I have assisted in ms windows clustering which was not too bad.It had all the instructions one would be expected to do.
I recently started looking at version 10 or 10 .5 in which OT has come a very long way.It makes the installer's life very easy.Soon one could hope that the installer will do clustering as well.

Hope the "soon" you wrote about is not too late

In the meantime i'll do one or two tries...i'll report if successfull. I've read about some scripts needed for the configuration, i'll see if we can do without them.

the scripts themselves are basically "perl" scripts that evaluates the variables in "node1" and will say that make sure "node 2 thru n" is set that way.If memory serves me right in windows/aix one would make sure everything is only installed including the "binaries" on the Active node and basically you are allowing the clustering software to do its job.
Obviously you would need a address that is readable/reachable by both nodes in time of fail over. I wish they would just hand it out to customers like it was because many times even with paid support the support guy is going to call into Germany to make it all work.Hopefully what you pay now actually makes it working all the way but with added impetus on java stacks(RCS,ELS,OTDS) the AS software is not easy as it once used to be.My gut feeling is that they are more making the "Installer software" do everything because that is how people like it these days a next,next kind of operation.I wish people embarking on livelink,archive server installs understands that both these enterprise class software requires resources really high and it is not a "all in a box" configuration as the "installer touts it to be". Perhaps OT is targeting smaller size clients who do not have any knowledge or appetite to spend time learning the beautiful moving parts of this architecture.....

Thats been my experience. Soon as they notice custom code, suddenly you're not supported.

Any luck w the Archive Server high availability task? CAS rings a bell... "Cluster Administration Support". Have you seen this Installation Guide?

whoops, this was strictly related to Archive Server. Just noticed that CAS has little to do w it, if anything

cluster admin in livelink installs is basically something like this,it is not a cluster like MS cluster or HACMP or anywhere close.Livelink is a simple file based install so to increaser thru put you have to install many livelinks connected to the same databse,so patching etc takes some time.This is what OT calls a "livelink cluster" and they have created some simple java routines to copy files here and there.It is not for high avilability as in a "intelligent cluster" but you can spin it as that because after all the more livelink servers in a install the better response times users will see generally.

Thanks LAMINI for your input, the real problem here is that there are some scripts (two, three...who knows?) that are needed in some point in the configuration process. I'm almost pissed off this fact...but we can't do anything about it..

You can't configured a cluster for HA without them, it seems, so it's almost impossible to complete an installation in a production system that requires HA. I'm really looking at them, trying to search any source i can search...but no one seems inclined to share or talk about them...
