Hi,
I'm unable to launch most appications from the Desktop and Start Menu and I am unable to launch anything from .exe files in the program folders. I'm also unable to launch any new applications that I install. Any thoughts, anyone?

Go easy as I'm more creative than techie.

Thanks

It sounds like a virus, most up to date anti-virus programs should catch it. It is probably W32.Nimda.A@mm you might want to do a full system scan and download the patch from Symantec.com

The fix is relatively easy. If this doesn't work, post back. Good Luck

Do you get a error message?
If you can't do a virus scan, then make sure your stuff is backup and do a clean install. Steve Hewitt

Thanks. I do get error messages and I'm unable to run a virus scan as I can't start Symantec etc. I was able to run a couple of scans for specific viruses as suggested by cirrus9 but so far no luck.

Also, when I try to view 'Properties' for My Computer, I get an access denied message.

I'll try reinstalling.

Thanks
