hi
I want to modify the theme of the public view of the portal site. Is it possible ? and how ? I can't find the " apply theme to site" option in the portal site settings.
Hi do you mean the home page of the portal site? If so then there's good and bad news. The bad is that unlike WSS you can't just apply a Frontpage theme from a pick list. But if you go to Site settings then under General settings click on change portal site propertis and sharepoint creation settings, you will see a blank text box next to the Custom Cascading style sheet. There are a number supplied located in the \Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\THEMES directory try these first and then its a case of developing a cascading style sheet of your own..
I have tried to up "/_layouts/themes/ice/theme.css" in the Custom Cascading style sheet as you said but nothing change for the home page . well it seem for me that I have to develop mine ( arg !) have you got tips ? or another solution ? are you sure this is worth ?
Hi Zainzar
apologies I have only given you half the story, firstly check that you can see the virtual directory in your IIS manager on the default site if you can only see as far as 1033 then you need to add a new virtual directory called themes and then browse to it to get the correct directory for example mine is on drive e: not c:
once you have done this then all will change. There are various boring technical reasons why MS don't want you to mess with the portal site which is why its not straightforward. Developing custom css well its only worth it if someone is paying you!
