We are running Lotus Database and importing excel spreadsheet via an agent hourly. The data itself is a constant size, but the overall size of the data keeps increasing in size until it becomes unmanageable by the system.

Currently running UPDALL, Fixup, and Compact every evening with no results.

Any ideas.

Thanks in advance for the help.

please elaborate on...

the nsf file keeps increasing in size?
what happens to Domino that makes it unable to manage?
what version of Domino?
was compact ran with any switches?
what is the size of the .nsf in question?

If you are importing a spreadsheet every hour, then the size of the database can only go up if you create a new document every time.
What is the size of the spreadsheet ?
Do you add a new doc, or do you delete and replace ?
Are there a lot of views in the db ?
What other info is stored in it ?

Pascal.

Thanks for all your help. We have found the problem. The problem deals with deletion stubs and its interval setting. It was set to 90 days and we were running it hourly. Needless to say, it was getting big, fast. The interval was changed to 2 days and that appears to have solved the problem. The two days is adequate, in this case, because Notes is not the origin of the data. The data is being kept somewhere else.

Thanks again for trying.

if this database is replicated to other servers and/or user workstations or laptops that 2 day interval setting may cause some problems when the db isn't replicated within this period, like older document (re-) appearing in the database on the server etc.
