When the user of the mac in our office tries to access a local asp driven database over the network with the address every time he types that address in the MAc IE and Netscape browser it automatically prefixes the address with suffixes it with .com, in this case it looks for
Any clues as to how we can get the mac user to access this file path so he can get to our database?

Is there a default on the MAC that automatically inserts .com can we switch it off, is it a properties in browser issue?

Or is it an ASP issue?

ANy ideas?

Just so you know I think you might get more responces in a forum related to your question.

I think that he can just go in and delete the www. and the .com and hit enter. Then have your user bookmark the site and presto it should be fixed.

This should not be that difficult because there are a many web sites that do not start with do not end in .com. The Mac browsers put these things in as a default so that a user simply type in the middle protion of a URL and they browser fills in the www. and .com. I have never tried to turn the option off so I am not sure if you can (I am at work on a PC so I cannot check right now).

It is not an ASP issue because I have been to many asp pages from my Mac.

If this does not work please answer the following questions and I will figure it out for you.

What version of EI and Netscape is your mac user using?
What version of the Mac OS is he running?
