Can I connect my Apple MAC to a HP Laserjet 4 - I can not find a driver, any tips ?

Regards

Graham

if it has the right on it so don't then just use the laserjet 8.1 driver that come with os 9 and you can get it form the hp site So long and thanks for all the fish.

HP LaserJet 4 has parallel interface, which MAC does not. I've seen
adapters available for MAC serial to parallel. Check the Mac places on the internet. The HP 4M, however, also has simultaneous MAC interface built-in, eliminating this problem.

wrong, the laserjet 4 has an option for a local talk port ethernet or parllel or all of the on the same unit So long and thanks for all the fish.

Check out a product called PowerPrint, it has SW/HW to allow a MAC to print to HP printers. I've used it with a LJ 1100 and a G3. The package cost aprox. $99 and I bought it on the Web.

Yes you can connect your mac to this printer, I have done it many times. What mac you have depends on the way you do it. If you are unfortunate to still be using an old one with serial ports then you can just use a localtalk connection and use laserwriter 8 driver (You will need to get the laserjet 4.pdd to hace all available features of the printer). If you are running a current mac then your best bet is to use an ethernet crossover cable (assuming that this is a stand alone set up). You can then again use the laserwriter 8 driver. If you find that the jet direct card in the printer does not have appletalk enabled then you can assign an Ip address to the printer and use the desktop printer utilty to printer via lpr (IP).

Hope this helps
