Hello. I'm getting ready to buy a new Smart-UPS for my Compaq ML350 server. I would like to try an APC smart-UPS and use the Powerchute software on the server.

Before I get carried away, is there anyone who can offer an opinion about using this product?

Thanks!

Did exactly what it was supposed to on the only 5.0.4 machine I supported with powerchute. If I recall correctly, it only had to shut the machine down once.
But make sure you test it properly at the beginning. The first live use is too late to find that it didn't set up right. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply. Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

I have installed it on several servers and have been very happy with the results.
Be sure to set the shut down time to a reasonable time frame. I had a customer
set theirs to immediate shut down and every time the power would flicker, thier
server whould shut down. I reccomend at least 10 minutes prior to an orderly
shutdown.
