Hi I didn't have that fix installed on aix5.1.But what is the error you are getting?

Anyway I will install that APAR and let you know my results.

i haven't loaded it either......i was just seeing
if anyone had loaded it and knew of any issues before
i installed it.

I suggest you to install latest preventive maintenance(pm) level aix5100-04 on your system.This will address all your issues
Rightnow I am installing it on my aix whose pm is at 5100-03

I will let u know my results...

Hi star

I successfully completed.No adverse effects.

My procedure is:

step1:check the preventive maintenace level along with aix version by using command
#oslevel -r

step2ownload aix5100-04 from this IBM url link:

https://techsupport.services.ibm.com/server/aix.fixdist?whichFix=APAR&fixes=IY43862

step3:Ftp to aix derver from your local pc workstation

step4:login root account and issue the follwing commnad
#installp -acgx -d /dir_of_install_file_set all and hit enter key

step 5:checking the installation by using command
#lppchk -v

step6:reboot the system
#shutdown -Fr

step 7:Now issue the command
#oslevel -r

output shows 5100-4

step 8:To check the specified APAR IY43862.Use the follwing
command
#instfix -ik "IY43862"

HERE WE GO!

I AM SUCCESSFUL.It took just 20 min time..
But be sure that system should be rebooted...Just try it on test server or take some maintenance window to install on production servers.

Successfully installing an APAR or ML does not fully answer star75's question. Sometimes, it may take several days or weeks for adverse effects, if any, from a patch to appear. The APAR star75 is asking about fixes an NFS problem. So if you don't test NFS after the APAR is installed, you can't tell if there are any issues with the APAR.

That said, IBM is pretty good about testing their patches before they release them -- unlike some vendors!

I know what you are saying? This APAR will address NFS fs hungs.As of now I don't have that problem on my system...
If any one has problem ...that guy has to do that APAR installation and later he can verify.

I didn't say in my previous post..."that my NFS issue is resolved" bcoz of this.

I Just gave the procedure and told Star ...Due to installation of APAR ... I didn't get any problem.
Inotherwords installation has no negative effects.
But you are correct...IBM will pre test before releasing any
PTFS....Then we will trust in IBM...It is natural...Definitely star's problem will be resolved...

Bottom line: I need not say how it works...
