I changed my documentroot directory to /home/user and now it gives me the forbidden error. I have checked the premisions. please help

You need to give apache execute rights to the folders you want access to from apache (and any folders in the path).

ex:
chmod o+x /home
chmod o+x /home/user
should give apache acces to the /home/user direcory
