Apache/Sites folder/Dreamweaver - updates not in browser ?

OSX.3.5 - Using my users local sites folder as the local folder for working on my website in Dreamweaver. I am not using a remote fodler as I want to use my sites folder to store this website. When I make changes to the files in Dreamweaver, they sometimes don't show when I browse to the site in Safari. They only show straight away if I preview from Dreamweaver

how are you accessing your site with Safari, are you going to localhost?

I've keyed in the URL starting with my Macs static IP address (the other network settings are from Windows DHCP), followed by /~myshortname/index.html. I've bookmarked this. The changes now seem to be appearing, but sometime later (20 mins +) ... is this normal ?

i've seen it many times- i know of many caching issues with safari, especially when using frames. clearing cache usually solves the problem.

If I use localhost, and not the static IP, it works OK. The static IP is still failiing to pick up recent mods. to the pages in Sites. Could this be to do with the Network web proxy ?
