Apache Parsing SSI internally, not externally

I have a problem I didn't see anywhere on this board. I've set up Apache 2.0.54 on a Win2K machine (also PHP 4.3.11) with several web sites. All the sites work perfectly when accessed from internal (inside the LAN) PCs, but when I try to access from outside, the SSI stops working properly (I get [an error occurred while processing this directive]).

My router is set up fine to forward port 80, I can access PHP-based pages with no problem, etc. Anyone have any idea why Apache would parse pages fine within the firewall and not when accessed from outside the firewall?

Are requests from within your LAN and external requests going to the same URL?

Is there any useful information about this error in your Apache server logs?

I'm using my external IP to access from outside the firewall, so I'm not using a URL (e.g.

http://1.2.3.4).

Inside the firewall I've just set the hosts file to point to the server (e.g.

http://sample/

)

The error I see at this point is:

It looks like you need to set up port forwarding for incoming requests on port 80. Does your firewall provide NAT on your LAN, or do you have another device that provides this service?

perluserpengo, thanks for the reply. I use the native firewalling from my Linksys router, which may not be all that great, but this is a fairly small project with only a few people seeing what's up there. I'm using my IP address to access this site, not a domain name. All of my projects have directories off the c:/www/ directory. No, I don't have registered domain I'm using here. This is just for development efforts that I want to make available to a few people.

Wishdiak, thanks for your reply too! My router is definitely not the problem, as I have port 80 forwarded and I can see everything except the include files. Plus I have very similarly built pages on the same server that work fine, it's just this one directory. Yes, the firewall provides NAT services.

An other ideas? The one thing I did think might be contributing is that I have several layers on includes. In other words, I have an include file that also has an include tag in it.
