My new error is:
'Could not post [ACCT] reconciliation because a Bank Check detail has a blank G/L account'

Accounting doesn't know what to do with this one either.

Hopefully, I didn't create the problem by trying to clear checks. After I was given help here, I started clearing them by setting SRCEAPP to 'BK'. Before that I was setting SWCHKCLRD to 0.

Does anybody know how to track down this error?

Tangential question: I looked at Sage University but it looks like everything is geared toward end user knowledge -- and for a newer version of the product.

Where can I get some training on the inner workings of this beast?

I don't have my file layouts in front of me, but I know there's a GLACCTID of some sort in BKCHK. Put the GL account of the bank in it.

There is a GLACCOUNT in BKCHK but the overwhelming majority of them are blank.

It appears that when there is a value in GLACCOUNT, RECONCILED = '1', RECCLEARED has a value and RECSTATCHG.

All of those fields are obviously relative to some reconciliation.

Hmmm... How can I figure out which row needs the GLACCOUNT populated?

Just populate them all. If there's a GL batch created, look at carefully, you can probably delete it.

Thank you both! I have what might be a new error but since I've never seen AP when it was working, I am uncertain.

If it is an error then I can start a new thread if that is preferable. I'm uncertain because it says error=0 in the error so that could, in my mind, mean that the error is no error. :)

AP says:

Error
Description: Journal Detail. Database error (operation=REV-POST, error=0).

Holy crap, your system is a mess. That's a totally different problem, it's usually caused by a mismatched ODBCBCP.DLL. Try posting the batch from a different workstation, if it works on that one, copy C:\Windows\System32\ODBCBCP.DLL from the good to the bad.

That's most probably why the bank rec is screwed up as well.

There is no other workstation because it is a test system.

First thing, I'm making a fresh copy from production. Then, I will use what I've learned here on the fresh copy to see if I end up with the same disaster.

Again, I thank you for your continued help!
