Does anyone know the fix which permits the user to have AOL ver 5.0 and another ISP on the same computer? I have a client who originaly had an indepandant ISP and was connecting fine. Then came this magic AOL ver.5.0 disk in the mail and he proceeded to install it on his system. The AOL setup went fine (He was lucky) and he was connecting without problem. But when he tries to connect to the independant ISP, it doesn't want to go. I know there was at one time a fix to this which allowed to have both ISP's on the same system. But I can't seem to remember or find the fix. I had already searched the KB's at MS but came up with nothing.

Does anyone here know how to fix this without uninstalling the "fine AOL 5.0" product (NOT). My recommendation to my clients is to stay away from AOL 5.0 browser until AOL first admits there is a problem and they actually do something about thier installation.

Your help is appreciated.

Tim Schuy
tschuy@mail.com

Does your client want to use their regular ISP to connect to the internet and use AOL as their interface? In my area, there is no local access number for AOL, but some of my clients like the AOL interface, so they have a local ISP account for connecting and then use AOL. In order to make this work, we have to remove the AOL dial-up adapter from the Networking properties. If your client actually wants to have the ability dial up AOL and another ISP as well, then I am not sure how this can be done, because the AOL dial-up adapter and the MS dial-up adapter don't like to work hand in hand.

Good Luck!

I suggest uninstalling AOL, and never touching another AOL CD ever again (except maybe to throw them straight in the bin). Obviously I no fan of AOL... I did use them once, but they are a ripoff, and you get more sex/money spam than with any other ISP I have ever used.
ahdkaw
ahdkaw@sensibilium.com
<a href= you do visit my sites - be warned! ahdkaw,

wait a second! don't throw that AOL CD out. Steve Case has given me a great gift- drink coasters.
Liam Morley
lmorley@wpi.edu
<a href=] :: imotic :: website :: [
"light the deep, and bring silence to the world.
I believe the number of modified files by AOL installation on Win95 system is around 250(!) I agree that the easiest solution is to blow away the AOL Dial-UP Adapter from Network applet of Control Panel after uninstalling AOL through Add/Remove Programs - and never touch it again!

Regards!

If you go to network setting in the control panel and remove the aol dailup addapter form there, and set AOL to use tcp/ip then you should be able to use both of them at the same time.
