This is probably a very simple question for an AOL user but I personally object to AOL so please bear with me.

I have a customer who needs to install an email address other than their AOL address into the AOL software. Not having come within a million miles of AOL myself, I wouldn't have the first clue where to start, although I do have all the POP/SMTP and other details to hand. Any ideas?

There. Told you it was a simple one!

Thanks.

AOL doesn't allow any change to it's email software, it strictly built just to send and recieve from the AOL servers. However, if they want the customer can use AOL to connect to the internet then use another mail package ie outlook express to get the mail from the other server. One other possible option that AOL offers is AIM that can be configured to check mail accounts other then just AOL.

If i remeber correctly, AOL has an option in the email settings which has wording like reply to

This assumes that the email client on the other end takes notice of this too.

Howdy:

Sorry, but if they are using AOL, then they live and die at the whim of AOL.. Can't be done.. AOL is so proprietary it is ridiculous.. No wonder they are losing billions now as people are beginning to realize this..
