Just wanting some feedback on this as a corporate wirefree solution. We have lots of users who carry a Blackberry and an Avaya wireless phone also, the break/fix cost of the wireless phones is through the roof and I am looking for alternatives.

So if anyone could provide feedback...

- How well is this working for you?
- Ease of use?
- Cost of implementation
- Will it work with any Blackberry model?

Thank you in advance.

We are using it on a limited bases.

Implementation was not to expensive ~1,000 for 10 users.

Using application with an iPhone. Having the iPhione app make using it seamless. We also have an user that is using it with a Skype wireless phone but mostly to only retrive calls when away from his desk. If he was to try dialing out, he would need to dial 16 to 18 numbers (this is where the iPhone app makes it seamless)

It is my understanding that it will work on any wireless phone

Using with the Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) and it works great. Only problem we ran into was using a private cert. BES admin didn't know how to load the cert into BES so had to do a little research. The latest version did away with the requirement for AES and now just uses a SIP trunk into the PBX so cost drops again. We put a proxy server in our DMZ for security purposes for web access.

thanks for the replies...

So jimbo so what hardware/software is required? What is your SIP trunk connecting to? What is the cost to set up? any other info would be appreciated.

Many thanks :)

do you have Enterprise edition or UC licenses? are you release 5.2 or newer? if so you have the entiltlement but setup can be done many different ways? if your users are all BB, you dont need a split server configuration and you can actually put it on a VM box inside your LAN. youll just need to make sure that your BES users are using the MDS internet. if you have a proxy server or something like a F5 you can also do a single server on the inside of the firewall. if you dont have these youll most likely want to have an additioanl server to sit in the DMZ. having done a couple of these with the training of someone who was very experienced i would feel that this something you not tackle by trial and error unless you have a lot of time, understand LDAP and have overall control your network. the actual install of the software and config of the CM side is pretty easy by following the install guide, but the individual setup of the dial plan can get tricky. also youll want to get all your AD users programed correctly with their DID in e.164 format before you start this project. there are some tools out there that can do mass import changes to do this.
