I came across this MS product the other day and wondered if anyone was using it. It looks at first glance like it allows you to run apps across the network a bit like terminal server but without the need for a terminal server.

Am i right?

We're not using it, but we are looking into it. It is a virtualization product that allows software to virtually run on a machine without ever having been installed. You can then determine what applications a user gets based on Active Directory group memebership, etc. It also allows for conflicting software to run on the same machine. For example, if you have to software products that require conflicting versions of Java, SoftGrid would allow both of the products and versions of Java to run on the PC because the would be running as sepperate virtual applications. Hope that helps. For us, one reason we are looking at it is to simplify and shorten the process of building new PCs. Several of our applications require excessive manual configurations that could be automated with SoftGrid.
