Anyone used Sybase's ADBS with FoxPro? 3

Can I offer a little advice...

The Sybase people have far too much time on their hands, if you go anywhere near them - they will swamp you with lovely people offering advice and trials and endless support.

I have tried to use their OLEDB drivers for accessing VFP files, but there are two real problems:

1) No support for general fields (not such a big deal)
2) Slower than the VFPOLEDB - by a factor so large I couldn't even measure it in the end.

As a side issue their SQL syntax is slightly different and it's fussy about your 'where' 'top' etc. positioning in the select strings.

I was hoping that their 64bit offering would give me a way forward from VFP, but THEY TOLD ME it was no faster than the 32bit one.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

If you are looking to break the 2GB barrier Sybase's offering is a bandaid, and once you apply the bandaid and go over the 2GB limit you can't use the tables in VFP any more.

If you really need to work with tables that large you should move to a real database that natively supports tables that large.
