Anyone running video through the G3 ?

Hi,

I have a G3v7 with ISDN PRI T's and seperate non-PBX BRI's for video conferencing.
I understand that video can run through the G3 with PRI enabled.
My question is, what type of circuit packs do I need, the 556B BRI pack ?
I have seen a Polycom unit that says it works with regular 2224 ports.
What's the difference, the type of video unit?
Is anyone doing this succesfully ?

Either the Polycom DCP (can use 2 or 4 wire digital ports)or BRI model, can call out using the definity. The BRI model uses 4-wire connection (TN556), or 2-wire (TN2198). You will have to program special route for the video calls to use. The BCC must be correct ot send out a data grade video call, and the network must be able to provide bonded call support. In general it's easy to connect but the bulk of your time will be spent doing the initial setup of ARS routes to place calls. I believe it requires the 2-wire BRI ports so you will have to provide a NT-1 if you are going to use the TN556 board. Hope this helps.

I believe its the other way around, NT-1 needs to be provided with TN2198... The TN556 is an "ST" interface.

The ISDN-BRI 2-Wire U interface (TN2198) contains 12 ports that interface the ISDN U reference point.

I have G3v8 & am running Video conferencing thru Definity using a Polycom 512 series equipment. I am using TN556 to connect the bri extension to the equipment.
BRI extension is defined as type "WCBRI". let me know if you need any help in setting this up on Definity in Route pattern etc..

I am also interested in this. How can you configure a wcbri port that you are able to place 2 calls simultaneous on this line? I have connect a ISDN FAX-SERVER card to the Definity, but the card is only using 1 B-Channel instead of two.

Anyone know how to wire TN556D ports to RJ45 Jacks fom 110 blocks? Trying to connect to Digi Datafire RAS cards in a server, but can't seem to get the wiring correct - set up as type WCBRI data mods in the switch, w/ spids...TSO/Helpline is clueless.

You just translate two stations to the same port. They will both need different SPIDs.

I just finished some research on Polycom ViewStation. Following is my finding. If anything is not right, please let me know.

There is three Polycom VS model. They are H.323, MP(Quad BRI)and DCP(Lucent special)MP.

For people wants to have the Poly behind the Definity, they can buy either the DCP version or the H.323 version with Lucent(Avaya) DCP network interface. The H.323 with the Quad BRI option will interface with Telco BRI. If you haven't decided which way to go but with a little money. I suggest to get the H.323 with DCP and Quad BRI option for flexibility reason.

Benefit of going behind the PBX is cost. My company has a lot of video conferencing with Taiwan and the rate is about $12 per minute with 384K via the three BRI. The rate, I haven't yet confirmed with AT&T, by going out via the ISDN PRI to Taiwan is $2.40 per minutes.

Polycom.com has an Application Notes for ViewStation DCP/512. But I don't think the AN is clear about which digital port card should be used for this application. I try to configure some ports with the example on the AN. It seems to take my configuration. My digital port card is TN2224.

We most likely will get the H.323 if I get a clear instruction from someone with Avaya to tell me my finding is correct.
