Ok, After sitting in tech support hell for the last hour, and being transferred thru no less than 8 techs, operators, etc. I asked for a supervisor. After sitting in a queue for over another hour, I gave up assuming the queue wasnt being answered.

So here's the deal. I have a Compaq 7020 17" LCD desktop monitor. Somehow the OSD (0n screen display) has gotten "locked". whenever I press any buttons besides the power button, The OSD comes up and says "OSD LOCKED". So I cant make any changes.

Anyone have a users manual handy that can tell me how to unlock the OSD? I have tried holding down about every conceivable button combo, to no avail.

I checked the HP website, and they dont have the manual available for d/l. I can probably buy one for god only knows how much....

If I EVER buy another HP/compaq product, JUST SHOOT ME!!!

Is this model still being sold? If so, go to the store and ask to see a manual.

I hope my the result of my boredom helped. I didn't look through it, but hey, it's the manul and it should say what to do.

Thanks. It was a manual, but no mention anywhere in that manual about locking/unlocking the OSD. *sigh*

I just got a Samsung LCD monitor and am browsing their FAQ. I thought of this thread again when I read this question:

Question: The OSD (Menu) Is Locked So I Can't Adjust My Monitor.

Answer: Hold down the menu button for 10-15 seconds to unlock. Repeat this to lock
the menu again. This is a useful feature to prevent others from making adjusments to your settings.

You probably tired this, heh.

Not sure this will help but I have notice on the back of some LCD monitors there is a little hole with a lock/unlock symbol under it. Maybe it is lock there, I'm not even sure what its for, never looked into it. Maybe it will help, good luck.

Thats probably a kensington lock port. Its a specially designed hole that goes thru the internal metal frame of the monitor so that you can insert a kensington cable lock device and anchor it to a stationary object like a table or counter, and keep people from walking off with your expensive piece of equipment.

If you look carefully, pretty much all laptops have the same hole somewhere.
