Common Client CC App

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services (both to act as server and to accept connections from the internet)

Real Networks Event Launcher

InstallShield Update Service Agent

Sonic Update Manager

I've been saying no to these over and over, but don't want to "remember my preference" until I know for sure I don't want/need them. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Common Client CCApp is a Norton AV app that does something with your email and autoprotect... allow it access.

Real Networks will try to connect, that is for streaming media, your call on that one, but it is not a nefarious program. I won't allow RealPlayer or Real Networks crap on my computers, but just my preference.

Install Shield is an automatic updater for one of your apps, it is probably safe to allow it access. It may be associated with the Sonic Update Manager.

Sonic, if it is the CD burning app, is probably trying to phone home, or looking for critical updates. If you use the app, then allow it, otherwise, again, your call. Probably not spyware or anything of that sort, from what I understand of it.

Generic Host... set it to NOT accept connections from the internet. As far as acting as servier, i would recommend no on that also, and then see if it affects anything.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Does anyone know anything about cscss.exe? It keeps trying to access the internet , but I don't know what it is. Thanks for any help.

cscss.exe is bad.

It is Advertising software installed with some screensavers. I saw its description in the agreement as I was loading a freeware screensaver.

Not sure of what software etc you are running, but I have recently gone through the following here in the UK:

Recently had broadband installed, and then installed ZoneAlarm Pro. Then started getting automatic Sonic DVD update each time the PC booted. Would have left alone if it was not for the fact that the Update Manager window locked, and could only be closed by rebooting - update manager had to be closed on the ending program prompt. My solution was to go into ZoneAlarm Pro and in the overview menu select check for product updates manually. In my Sonic tools menu automatic update has always been deselected. Hope this can help... not very technical, but it is Sunday and therefore a day for being a little like a Luddite.
