Anyone have MCP Need Books 1

From my own experience I have found the Microsoft books to be the best. If I remember correctly you also get a copy of the book on CD with a lot of them so you can read it at work durig lunch!
To be perfectly honest though, just reading a book is not going to help you much. If you do manage to pass your MCSE etc. just from reading books you will be known as a Paper MCSE. You will know all the theory and what SHOULD happen when you do something, but in the real worls what SHOULD happen is not always what actually HAPPENS!
What you really need is some practical experience, the more the better.
Although they are a lot more expensive than books, i would highly recommend that you save up all your hard earned money and go on an official Microsoft Official Curriculum course, not only will you learn the theory but you will get the appropriate practical experience that will help you understand and remember everything.

i used the newriders mcse core books, found them very good, tough if you can find the testking ebooks they are excellent on preparing for the exam.

Braindumps are simply that. The contents of someones brain just after they have sat an exam. They write down all the questions they can remember and the possible answers and what they believe to be the correct answer.
In other words, CHEATING!
If you mention to someone at a test centre that you have been using braindumps then they have every right to take away your certifiaction and fail you.
Microsoft Certified Trainers and the like could even have their certification revoked if they advise their students to use braindumps.
Not only are they cheating, but also how reliable are they and who says that the person creating the braindump is right anyway!
My advice simply dont use them. Study Guides on the other hand and very usefull and can be found all over the internet.

But on the otherhand 'Braindumps' do get you into the way of Microsofts thinking and the way they phrase their questions, which can be a bit obscure for Europeans.

The best way to get used to how Microsoft phrase their questions is to use testing software such as Transcender.
There are also lots of web sites that offer free online test questions.

what good is a cert obtained through braindumps if you can't figure out how to manage a server?

Sorry, JTB but I have to disagree.
Braindumps are nice to have if and only if they are used correctly.
I myself use them to study up. Usually two days before the test, I go through these dumps actually testing myself, to make sure that I am ready for the material.

I found it very helpful when I took my 70-224 Exchange 2000 test.
I had taken a college class, studied for two weeks by using CBT nuggets, and even read the complete Microsoft Official Curriculum book on it. Two days prior to the test I downloaded the braindumps and found that I was not ready for the test AT ALL!!
But because of the braindumps I knew exactly what areas I needed to improve upon. I re-scheduled the test, went over the areas I needed to improve on (both book and lab) and passed the test 3 weeks later.
JTB, I understand what you are saying about not using them and still being able to pass. I just took my 70-218, but because I went on a business trip to Mexico I could not study up on braindumps and still passed with a 910.
All I am saying is that when used correctly braindumps are very helpful.
