We have 5 locations at this time that use 3700 v3.2 that are on EM. I saw on Micros site that they are offering training to go from 3.2 to 4. So I was just looking for more information on it. So I can figure out if it is someting that we are going to do.
In the same boat. Let me know what you find out. They have introduced a fair amount of new features (gimmicks??) with the last several service packs so i don't think it will be a drastic upgrade
From what I know it is going to be a signifigant change in things, such as; the database is going to be encrypted so there goes any custom things you have done if you connect to the DB with another program that is not certified by them.
Other than that it will be typical interface changes and bug fixes along with conforming more with new CC standards.
I have heard that the Micros 3700 v4 will be a PABP certified application (complying with the latest credit card security regs). I don't believe v4 is available yet, I've heard a late March release but I don't know if this ETA is a general release or a beta release? I have not been given any other info so I do not know if this upgrade includes other features -- Micros is being pretty tight lipped about it.
Hopefully for Micros, this version will include more than just security upgrades because there will be an announcement shortly of PABP cetified drivers for both the 8700 v2.1-2.8 and 3700 v3.x making both these platforms compliant without a major upgrade. These drivers have successfully passed a third party security audit and are now in the paperwork stage of being certified by VISA.
This new system will offer DB encryption like no other POS software provider out there. It is offering full Kiosk support, API interfaces, triple encryption of data, complies to all CC security requirements for 2008, and addes massive functionality enhancements.
