Hello!

I have just recently ventured into a Micros 2700 system for a college friend. His father owns a business and purchases some terminals and a server from a now out of business pizza parlor. They gave them the system, fully intact, with their old database (and some employee SSN numbers as well). Not too secure. I want to wipe the database out and start fresh for their business, but do not know how to empty the database out. I have none of the passwords for Micros's stuff and it is version 2.60 or something near that.

If anyone has a blank database, I'd like to wipe the old one out and use it.

Any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

You're better off modifing the existing database. If you start with a blank one you will have to basically create the wheel.

It sounds like you have a 3700 system not a 2700. 2700 systems rarely have a server and version 2.6 doesn't sound like a 2700 version.

Although you'll pay thru the nose, you are better
off having your friends call the local Micros dealer for DB setup. Basically all they have to do is input the new menu items. Dont let them tell you it takes 30 hours, it takes about 3-4 hours to input menu items & prices. Many of the existing parameters will be OK from the old business if it was setup up properly to begin with.

You'll need 16-20 hours of training to properly understand how to maintain and operate the 3700 system. This is where your effort should be, get trained or you'll pay for every little change required down the line.

I charge $500 for a complete starting database for micros 2700's. Includes all menu item input, payment types, tips, discounts, liquor, beer ,wine, touchscreens, food & liquor preps, employees, job codes, printer definitions etc. It's really turn key contact me if interested. Remember my database is only for 2700's.

I'm not sure what the status of the 2700 system is, but I think Micros replaced it with the E7 a year or two ago.

If this is in fact the 3700 v2.6 you may have a tough time getting a Micros dealership to work on it. That version went out of production about 7 years ago and is well past end-of-life. It only runs on WinNT with Win95 clients, so hardware service may be tough to come by too.

Also, if your friend's dad plans on accepting credit cards through the POS system, 3700 v2.6 isn't CISP compliant, and neither are any versions of 2700, so Merchantlink won't touch them.

Sorry about being the bearer of bad news.

Micros has replaced most 2700 with e7, but 2700 does still work. I hope you didn't spend too much on the system...you will probably have many issues..such as the Visa/MC CISP compliancy and the fact that your license key is not registered to you, that could get costly if you need service. You are probably better off investing in a new system. Contact your local Micros Dealer would be my advice. Good Luck!
