Can it be done?

We've got (due to slow replacement of PC's) a mixture of office 97 and 2k in our office. This is just as big a nightmare as it sounds.

Meantime, while we can more or less get round the problem of Docs and spreadsheets, we use a lot of custom written Access apps, and they don't mix. I don't want to use 97 for new developement anymore.

Is it possible to have Access 97 AND 2k on the same machine?

Yes, you can have two copies of Access on one machine, you install Office 97 first then install Office 2000 or XP and change the option to leave Access behind and you will end up with two installs, eg Access 97 and 2000. If you do this on a machine that has already had a copy of Office on it before then you will need to run the Office Cleaner utility before reinstalling.

Yes, it can be done. I've got both on mine. You'll have to put them in different directories, though. Look in the Access: Other Topics FAQ for links and stuff that will give you more detail

Yes, but don't install 2000 first and then 97. It creates some errors, particularly SendObject with email fails. Newposter

and don't update the jet engine after installing 2000 as it stops 97 from working.
