I have been trying to install Citrix MetaFrame 1.8 on NT Terminal Server 4.0. I'm having a little trouble with profiles but, the real headache comes from the policies. It seems that sometimes they are ignored while other times they take efect. When I create a new policy it seems to conflict with opld poliicies as well. I was wondering if anyone found some helpful documentation on this?

Also, has anyone found good docs about rolling out a MetaFrame client to W95/98/NT users ?

Thanks,

Brimo. . .

Policies are a pain - you almost need a seperate IT person to do nothing but keep all the policies working properly. I have got a reference book on policies that I keep around. I have not used it in a while - but I will dig it up and get you a copy. It is really worth reading because of the complexities of the policies like which ones overwrite others and how to undo something from a policy (a lot harder than it should be).

About rolling Metaframe out - it all depends on how many users you have. We only have about 100 users but the kicker is that they are spread out over 6 cities nationwide. It is pretty simple to have them navigate to a share folder and click the executable - select all defaults - and be on your way. That is what I did and had great success.

I do not know of any scripts that will auto install Citrix for you - but I am attending a cirtix class on the 19th of this month and will find out. I am sure that there are a few and if not we need to come up with one and make millions!!!

I will keep you posted on that policies hand book.

Thanks Pinkman,

The best document I have found regarding a no-brainer client install has been at
I have also been able to find a couple of MetaFrame or Thin Client oriented sites. At the page, go to to the top and click on the Tools pull-down. The choice second from the bottom is the Thin Webring. That is the "Server Based and Thin Computing Web Ring"

There are only about 30 sites there but some have very valuable info. and some really cool (and I don't use that term very often) tips and tricks.
