We have a strange problem on a 9600L that is preventing the addition of a shelf and as the product is way past it's use by date, we can't get support on it. This is for a hospital so we would like to resolve it if possible.

Any help gratefully recieved!

What commands are you using to install the shelf and what is the error you are getting. Also your post states a 9600L. I am concerned that it might be one of the small LE switches. If so it cannot be expanded beyond the single cabinet that it already is.

It' an F9600 XL and when we add the shelf we get a major alarm and the CPR1 goes into single mode and we can't see any of the cards in the shelf. Not sure of any more details at the moment as we had to postpone the update because of the problems it was causing, this being a fairly sizeable hospital!

Our only alternative at the present is to book an 8 hour outage and change equipment on a wholesale basis to try and eliminate the offending item. The system has had past lightning strikes!

Sorry to be a bit vague but I personally am an NEC tech who works with a company that maintains multiple vendors equipment. The Fujitsu techs working on this have 20+ years working with these systems but have not previously used these forums for assistance so I am posting on thier behalf!

Sorry, sometimes my mind just flies off in the wrong direction. Should have realized XL not LE. Next question I have is how many shelves are in the system now. And a couple things to check. These have bit me before. One is double check the interconnect cables and I believe there are some dip switch changes on the network cards when adding shelves. I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the interest.

The guys doing the job have added shelves on numerous occasions and I'm a little wary of asking them the basic questions (between them they have pushing 60 years of experience on this system and used to be the system specialists for the biggest maintainers down here). The fact that they are willing to book an 8 hour outage tells me they have tried the basics and when I asked them what they would have done in the past, they said that at this point they would have taken a B7 dump and sent it to Fujitsu! Me like an idiot said " I bet we could get this interpreted on the net" and they called my bluff!

Any info you can supply would be gratefully recieved but I have to be careful not to insult my colleagues! Serves me right for trying to score points!

Ok, I also have over 20 years experience on the 9600 myself. I was hoping with just a little more info something could be figured out. But if these guys are saying a B7 dump needs to be done. The only ones that can read that are the engineers at Altura. Even the TAC guys send the B7's there. Good luck. One last slightly off topic question. I am a little curious where you are, I might know the techs you are working.

Perth Western Australia!

So I doubt you know the techs concerned. But who are Altura and could they help us????

I'm sure the techs concerned will fix it one way or another, I'm just trying to avoid an 8 hour outage!

Altura is the company that took over Fujitsu after they closed the american doors. I thaught I had heard that Fujitsu was still producing PBX's in Asia and Austrialia. Guess I heard wrong. Any you can find Altura on the web at AlturaCS.com. Good luck.

Jon.

A BZ dump is not going to help you on this, even if you had tha magic decoder ring. This is not a software issue you have....it is a hardware issue, other then that im not much help...as the previous post suggest, you could call Altura for support
