I know it's a minor thing but I can't for the life of me find the CLS to disable the speaker on a 2008 set.

Help?

you want to disable handsfree? or just kill the speaker.. cls hfd removes handsfree. to kill the speaker cut the speaker wire, but that kills all ringing

Hi John,

No, I didn't want to HFD, I just want the speaker to not function (short of cutting the wire). I'm sure there's a way to do it on purpose since some of my 2008's don't have it and some do.

Thanks for your reply.

you can't turn it off, you can remove ring, hfd etc, but short of snips i've never found a way to do that

Why would you want to leave Hands Free activated and yet disconnect the speaker? Disabling hands free will basically do the same thing without damaging the phoneset. Look at the programming on those 2008's that have the speaker "off". If they are not HFD, I think you will find that they are older models that had the non functioning speakers. Nortel did sell them and I am sure that there are still many of them out there.
