Any way to trap keystrokes while in @ Get 1

Stuck with using FoxPro DOS for this old project. Valid checks for tab, return, etc. I would like to emulate autotab by keyboarding a tab when the string is full. I tried using On Key DO PROCNAME but that doesn't seem to be active during the read portion.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

As far as i know the only way is SET CONFIRM OFF and put an inkey() trap in the object valid clause to so as to control the cursors flow.
